So there is a series of books called the Prince of Thorns, King of Thorns, and the Emperor of Thorns. In it we follow a pretty messed up Hero called Jorg Ancrath who tries to united the Broken Empire ( Europe ) and the world.
What makes the books so interesting is the world which takes place a 1000 years past the War of a Thousand Suns which more or less destroyed most of the world as we know it and left technical artifacts, AI, Magic, Monsters, and all sorts of things in the world.
Europe has change do to the war and much of it under water ( the sea rises 10 to 15 feet ) so while Europe looks close to our time, its changed enough to make it interesting for the reader.
The technology of the world is basic late medieval with some working technical artifacts to liven things up ( such as bio warheads, nukes, AI computers ). Most of the world is using swords, spears, axes, bows, etc. The soldiers wear plate, chain, leather, etc.
Magic is real but it do to the ancients messing with the universe and allowing our thoughts to effect the world around us ( if a person is trained in magic ). This gets out of hand during the books and eventually leads to a war of the undead Vs the living. True Magic is rare, but there are many that claim to use it, but only few can. It is dangerious .....
So why run a campaign in this world? Its your classic Gama World without the mutants characters or talking animals, or silly stuff. This world is much like our own, but very very dangerous. Its Cool. There are quests to recover ancient equipment, fight undead armies, save the world from the daemons ( more like our belief in daemons that can cause them to be real ), Politics at a grand scale, and almost anything else you could want.
From here we will go to the other sections. And If anyone wants to help, Please DO!
